Travel Day!

It seems very surreal. Two of the Three C's are at check point two - Toronto airport waiting for our evening flight to London. All the years of talking about it and now we are here. Waiting. Happily and very anxious to get to France.

Wendy and I talked on the flight about the encompassing circle of well wishes that we have received from our families and friends the past couple weeks. You are sending us off strong, feeling very capable and very loved. It feels like part of our Camino. Taking stock of who we are and where we are from. Who we are very much the relationships that we have. Thank you! If you ever wonder if you should send someone a message of support for any life event... Do it! It is such a blessing.

I received an amazing gift of support from one of my athletes before I left. A series of letters to open in various circumstances. Today on the tarmack in Regina I opened an envelope labeled 'when you are excited'.
This is what was inside.

Thanks Haley! I am so excited. Wise words from a 10 year old.

As a coach of young athletes, I try to teach about dreaming and setting goals. This has been such a big dream and we are on our way. It is validating that dreaming big is important. I have never felt the way I do right now.

As many of you know, if you are looking to find Wendy and I when we are together, don't look, listen. It was true this morning in the airport. We met a very friendly man from Nigeria who had just dropped his daughter at university. He had us in stitches. We told him about winter and he said he would die here. He was so complimentary about the things we take for granted - streets to drive on, organized cities and non corrupt government. Helps put things in perspective.

As well, we sat behind Team Canada Mixed Curling rink from Swift Current on their way to Switzerland. They warranted free beer and almonds. More than us pilgrims. No snacks for us!

Anyway - so excited! Next check in hopefully will be from France!
